UoC: Black Turn “Army Group South”

Today’s Unity of Command battle will be Army Group South. We are driving across the borders of Poland towards Lvov.

UoC: Black Turn “Army Group North”

Well my first mission did not go so well. I missed it due to timing. I am learning though. Now my second mission is Army Group North. It is once again about timing. Let’s see if it comes through. As it stands, I am 0/1.

Just a little background about Army Group  North on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Group_North). I figured maybe link some information here if anyone is interested.

In preparation for Operation Barbarossa, Army Group North was reformed from Army Group C on 22 June 1941. Army Group North was commanded by Field Marshal Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb^[1]and staged in East Prussia. Its strategic goal was Leningrad, with operational objectives being the territories of the Baltic republics and securing the northern flank of Army Group Centre in Northern Russia between Western Dvina River and Daugavpils–Kholm Army Group boundary. On commencement of the Wehrmacht’s (the German armed forces) Baltic offensive operation the Army Group deployed into Lithuania and northern Belorussia. It served mainly in Baltic territories and north Russia until 1944.

Its subordinate Armies were deployed with the following immediate objectives:

• 18th Army – from Koenigsberg to Ventspils – Jelgava
• 4th Panzer Army – Pskov
• 16th Army – Kaunas, Daugavpils
• Army Group troops
  • Army-Group signals regiment 537
  • Army-Group signals regiment 639 (2nd echelon)

It was the 4th Panzer Army we got to play for this game.

UoC: Black Turn – “Army Group Center”

Here is its, my first let’s play in a long time of Unity of Command. I recently purchased two DLC packs that came out a little while ago. Black Turn DLC is the German invasion of the Soviet Union, otherwise known as “Operation Barbarossa”.

The second DLC is Red Turn and is the Soviet invasion of Germany after Stalingrad. The Red Turn scenarios will be played after the Black Turn (trying to do it in order of occurrence).
